Our show with White Noise Euphoria in Altona last weekend was fun... we gave away a ton of old records that i had scribbled 'Wide Awake City' over top of the original artists name...it was quite a grand laugh.. speaking of laughing... white noise was no laughing matter... they were really great, tons of potential... 5 guys who aren't even out of high school yet make some pretty nice sounds, reminiscent of redsayno, and mogwai. our mini tour was excellent, thank you to everyone we played and stayed with... you made it possible. if you are coming to the cd release show on saturday you'll hear our newest song that was named after two guys who wowed us in regina - "Andy Shauf & Dallas Bryson"..... and maybe just maybe we'll have our latest song ready for you entitled "Men in Socks, It's Just Gross"... probably not though, because we're all really busy right now and it's basically just a song title without the song part... but it's such a brilliant name for a song i just had to put it up.
WAC will soon be immortalized on digitial video disc (DVD). We are going to be the soundtrack for BRADLEY HATHAWAY's new limited edition DVD scheduled to be out sometime this summer.

WIDE AWAKE CITY RECORDING NEW ALBUM
Yesterday, we recorded 11 songs for our new CD with Dave Miller at Avante Records. We are going back to the studio next week to start mixing. The album is currently without name, but one name that came up was "We Are Not The Faint" because we're not, that would be pretty accurate.

so if you search wide awake city on google, you get a link to download our entire album for 60 cents.... we never authorized anyone to be allowed to do so, and we hadn't even heard of goldenbeats.com or mp3search.ru.... so i (nils) sent them a threatening email and now the site says our CD is unavailable... if you have any information as to how this website obtained our CD or anything about this company, we will name our next song after you in recognition of helping out our attempts at solving this mystery of a crime.

If you missed the DREAM QUEST CD Release party, you missed a part of history. Let's just say I've never patted a sweatier back than that of drummer Steve Doerksen of Dream Quest... and the sweat was with good reason, it was non stop metal. We suggest requesting "TODAY OR THAT THING" Why not start a "Request WAC Club" where you organize a request plan between 5 or 6 friends in order to get 2 Wide Awake City songs requested every day of the week.... we will compesnate you from all the numerous royalties we receive.

Last night we played with The Feminists (www.thefeminists.net), the Camaromance (www.thecamaromance.net) and Doug Mclean.... all very great peformers... Make sure to check out the above websites as they are on tour and could use a word of encouragement or another person at their next show while they are treking across this vast nation. and the TurnbullACs were added to the bill last minute... which made the crowd a bit more diverse which was cool except for the rude punks, not those ruedboy ska punks but rather an abnoxious small group of guys who can't seem to think that anything is good unless it's got 4 chords and is fast with monotone singing, i always used to think there was a little bit of respsect shown to someone on stage even if it's not your genre of choice... but that's ok because your "punk 4 life" tattoo will change to hardcore and then emo, and then you'll be on stage singing your poetic heart at McNally Robinson in one years time and by then i'll be grindcore and i'll make fun of you too... oh no wait. i won't, if anything i'll stop my neighbor to my right and tell him to show some respect. Oh yea, and the guys who told Brendan to shut up and stop reading from a great piece of writing and heckled us in between songs... if we weren't a hundred pounds heavier and knowledged in fighting and didn't tend to be pascifists you guys would be dead. just kidding.... it was a fun show altogether and the rude people made it all the more intersting.. so thanks for coming out. we had fun.
