WIDE AWAKE CITY: Three acoustic guitars played by Jonathan Hildebrand, Nils Vik and Brendan Cathcart to create instrumental music. Originally formed in 2001 by Jon and Nils under the name The Going Concern. The music is hard to sum up, it's instrumental, it's "indie rock", it's acoustic, it's "prog", it's pretty, it's intricate, and hopefully it inspires those who hear it to create as well, or just enjoy.

Collectively the band has been playing guitar for about 30 years. Some bands we like to listen to are: Pinback, The Appleseed Cast, Mogwai, Thingy, Radiohead, Four Tet, Broken Social Scene, Interpol, The Mercury Program, Do Make Say Think, Rob Crow, Belle & Sebastian, Hayden, Rufus Wainwright, Bloc Party, Minus the Bear, Stars, Pedro The Lion and a whole bunch more bands that don't sound like us. Brendan is married, Nils is married, Jon is engaged to be married in July, does this really change the way you hear our music?

NILS VIK... plays a simon and patrick guitar, was born on march 17th, works at a music store and sells sofas, has a wedding ring and wife, lived in norway, has 4 cameras in total, enjoys white tea.

JONATHAN HILDEBRAND... plays a seagull guitar, was born on march 27th, is in the process of getting his degree in history, thinks voluntary simplicity is a book worth keeping, has glasses, lived in Altona, has a winnipeg jets flag, enjoys chai tea.

BRENDAN CATHCART... plays a gretsch guitar, was born on may 27th, is writing his first novel, enjoyed "life of pi" despite it's popularity, used to be a chef at a japaese restaurant, lived in BC, has a wedding ring and wife, enjoys black tea.
